Senior Adviser Staffing Strategies and Nursing Leadership

Elizabeth Lemons, RN, MBA, brings passionate and extensive hospital leadership experience to consulting projects at Stamp & Chase. She has been a registered nurse for more than thirty-five years and a healthcare executive serving in multiple roles from the bedside to the boardroom of hospitals and health systems.
Elizabeth recently served as the Chief Operating Officer at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, a member of Ascension Health, during an expansive growth period following the move to a replacement facility. She introduced Lean healthcare to the Saint Thomas Health system and used this background extensively to help improve hospital operations and financial performance in the new Saint Thomas Rutherford facility. Hospital throughput at St. Thomas Rutherford is now recognized as “best in class” across Ascension Health. During her time as the COO, the hospital saw 15% growth in inpatient discharges and surgeries over a seven-year period, while financial operations improved significantly.
Prior to her role at Rutherford, Elizabeth served Saint Thomas Health in a system leadership role in Quality Improvement, Case Management, and Patient Safety. She led the system’s efforts to consolidate these functions in line with Ascension’s Call-to-Action for “Healthcare that is Safe.” The high reliability practices begun at Saint Thomas Health are now the standard for patient safety practices across Ascension Health.
Elizabeth’s hands-on leadership style and dedication to excellence began with her roots as an operating room nurse. She has been a leader in patient experience, patient safety, operational improvement, and quality initiatives in both her health system and consulting work.
